Attractions in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam is known for its beaches that are known for its scenic beauty and landscapes. There are a few virgin beaches that are situated all along the Eastern Coast of the city in the Bay of Bengal. Make sure that abide by the instructions of the coast guard and one thing more, you have to arrange for your transport as there is no public transport available to these beaches. Ramakrishna Beach: This beach is also known as RK Beach where you can find youngsters coming here to enjoy the summers. This place comes to life during the holidays and weekends. Also make sure that you dress decently on the beach as this beach is not like the other beaches in the world where you dress in any attire. Also don't swim in this beach as the waters can become violent and deep and many people have died while swimming in the recent past.
Rashikonda: This beach is situated outside the city and frequently visited by the foreign tourists. This beach is lot safer than RK beach and has special area where you can do swimming. A beach resort has been developed by the Andhra Pradesh tourism to encourage tourism here.
Yarada Beach: This is a private beach and a nominal fee is charged if you want to visit this beach. This beach is situated at some height and provides you some of the best views of the sea and the city.

Jagadamba Center: This is also called as Downtown of Visakhapatnam. This place has a number of shops and stores that deal in locally produced good and handicrafts. This place has one of the finest film auditoriums of the country.
War Memorial: This memorial is built in the remembrance of the Victory at Sea during the 1971 Indo Pak War. It is situated opposite to the Submarine Museum.
Ross Hill: This is a popular picnic spot that is dedicated to the three hills that are situated in three different directions. |
