Hyderabad Airport also known as Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, it is situated at Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is named after the former prime minister of India Mr. Rajiv Gandhi; its former name was Begumpet Airport. It is also considered as second best example of public-private relationship after Cochin International airport. Hyderabad Airport is a hub for Spice Jet and Lufthansa Cargo and also secondary hub for Air India, Jet Airways and Kingfisher airlines.
It is located almost 30 Km away from the Begumpet. Taxi or private vehicle is the best way to reach airport. State government is planning to expand its metro rail from Falakhuma and Shamshabad to the airport. Hyderabad Airport provides ticket counter for rail ticket, bus ticket and flight ticket. It is being made with the planning of three phases. UK engineering design firm Arup has designed the airport, same firm has designed the third terminal of Dubai Airport. The Novetel airport hotel was opened in October 2008. It has 305 rooms and suits. It also provides Wi-Fi to its visitors. It has its own restaurant and bars. It also gives the chance to relax its visitors by spa and gym.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is also planning to make to make big hotel to attract its passengers. When it will be constructed completely, it will be able to handle 40 million passengers annually. It will be providing all international facilities. It is made on an area of 5.400 acres. It has been the Sixth busiest airport during the year 2010-2011. It has also been considered among world's best five airports by Airport Service quality (ASQ). Hyderabad Airport has won this recognition according to a survey conducted upon the passengers.
