Goa Airport is also known as Dabolim Airport; Dabolim is the name of a village which is located in Goa. This airport is also operated by Airport Authority of India as the any other Airport of India. But its owners are Indian Navy and the state Goa itself. It is used for two purposes, public and military. This airport is located in Bosco De Gama, Goa, India. Portuguese government made it but it was occupied by Indian navy. Indian military uses this Airport for the training to its staff. Goa is one of the best tourist places in India, its beautiful beaches appeal to the tourists from all over the globe. Seven hundred flights arrive and take off from this airport.
Here mainly two terminals are found. Terminal 1 was made in 1983 and it has the capacity to manage three hundred fifty flights daily. It is used by many domestic airlines but in limited numbers. Its limitation can be guessed by the fact that it is connected to India's ten domestic airports only. Terminal 2 is made in 1996 and it can handle 250 international flights simultaneously. During the winter season, it becomes the centers for arrivals of many European Charters Airlines.
Transportations from the Airport and for the airport are easily available. There are many ways to go to the airport. Passengers go by train, bus, automobile and their own or rental cars. A monorail system is also being planned. So that passengers can reach in an easier way. 89 cars can be parked in its parking space. But most of the parking area is occupied by the airport staff. Every year thousands of tourists are seen here, who are warmly welcomed in the Goa Airport.
Civil Aviation Ministry of India planned for the redevelopment of Goa Airport in 2006.This planning added new international aircrafts. This construction was completed in 2007.
