History of Ahmedabad
This city was started by Kings Karandev 1 who won this area after the battle with Bhil king of Ashapali. After his victory, this place was known as Karnavati and served as the capital of his kingdom. In 1411, Sutan Ahmed Shah captured this place and named it Ahmedabad.

Many sessions of Congress were held here and many important resolutions were passed. The historical Quit India Movement and Dandi March was started from this very ashram. Today this ashram has a museum were many belongings of Gandhiji has been kept and preserved.
Sidi Sayed Mosque: This mosque is known for its unique art and craft. This mosque was built during the 16th century and its screens and semi-circular windows are highly popular. The screen has been carved out of a single rock.
Akshardham Temple: This temple is situated in Gandhinagar and is dedicated to Swami Narayana. This temple is one of the best examples of Hindu art and architecture. This temple is open on all days of the week and a nominal entry fee is charged.
Bhadra Fort: This palace is the symbol of Maratha power and glory. This fort used to serve as the residence of many royal families of Ahmedabad. But today, a museum has been established which has the belongings of the residents of this fort.
Jhulta Minar: This is an unusual structure that has a number of swinging minarets that were a part of Saddi Bashir mosque. These minarets can be set in swinging motion by applying a little effort on the topmost arch. This minar was conceptualized and designed by Quili Qutub.
